Privacy policy

The short version: we collect what you send us so we can answer you, we count visits so we know what’s working, and we don’t sell anything about you to anyone. The details are below, in plain English.

At a glance

  • When you fill out a form, we get what you typed (usually your name, email, phone and message) by email, and use it to reply to you and quote your project.
  • We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and which forms get sent. It sets cookies.
  • We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use our pages (where they click and scroll). What you type into our forms and tools is hidden from it.
  • The Domain & Email Check runs in your browser. We never receive the domain you check, and we keep it out of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
  • We don’t sell or rent personal information, we don’t run ads on this site, and we don’t use Analytics for advertising.
  • Email support@silvea.tech to see, correct or delete anything we have about you.

Who we are

Silvea Technologies (“Silvea”, “we”) builds and hosts websites, business email and domains, based in Elmore County, Alabama. This policy covers silvea.tech. Silvea Builder and the client dashboard have their own terms and privacy policy.

What we collect, and why

Forms you send us

Our quote forms (website, email, domain and migration) and the free audit’s “full picture” form ask for your name and email, and sometimes your phone number, your current website, details about your project, and the results of an audit you ran. When you press send, our server emails that to us and nothing else is done with it. We use it to reply, prepare a quote, and do the work if you hire us.

The website quote form also lets you attach photos and a logo. Those files are attached to the same email and are never saved on our web server: the server holds each one only for the moment it takes to send the email, then deletes it automatically. We keep them with your form email (see “How long we keep it” below) and use them only for your website.

If our mail server is down when you send a form, you’ll see that it didn’t go through, and the server saves a private copy so your message isn’t lost. That copy holds the names of any files you attached, not the files themselves. As soon as email works again, the copy is delivered to us and deleted automatically. A copy that still can’t be delivered after 30 days is deleted.

Free Website Audit

When you run the audit, the address you enter is sent to our server, which loads that public web page so your browser can check it. We don’t keep a record of which sites were checked.

Domain & Email Check

This check runs entirely in your browser. To answer it, your browser looks up public records directly from Cloudflare’s DNS service (or Google Public DNS as a backup), from IANA, from the registry that runs the domain’s ending (like .com), and from the website itself, to test its secure connection. Those services see the domain and your IP address, as they would for any lookup. We don’t receive the domain, and it’s removed from the page address before Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity loads.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, roughly where visitors are (city or region), what device and browser they use, how they found us, and a few actions we count. Those actions are a form being sent (not what was in it), an audit or domain check being run (not which site or domain), and a click on a Silvea Builder sign-up link or on our WhatsApp or Facebook link. Google Analytics doesn’t log or store IP addresses. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, and we keep Analytics data for 14 months.

You can opt out with Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies in your browser, or with a content blocker. Everything on the site still works if you do. Google’s own handling of this data is covered by Google’s privacy policy.

Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use our pages: where they click, how far they scroll, and where they get stuck, shown as heatmaps and as replays of a visit. Our forms, the free audit and the Domain & Email Check are masked, so Clarity never records what you type into them or the results they show. Clarity also collects your device and browser type and rough location. We use it only to make the site work better, not for advertising.

You can block it with a content blocker or by blocking cookies in your browser. Everything on the site still works if you do. Microsoft’s handling of this data is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Security and server logs

To stop spam and abuse, our form and audit tools count requests per visitor using a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, never the address itself and never linked to what you send. Those counters are deleted within a day. Like every web host, our host (Hostinger) keeps standard server logs: IP address, page requested, browser and time. They’re used for security and troubleshooting, and kept according to Hostinger’s retention.

Google Fonts supplies the site’s fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google, which sees your IP address. We don’t set any advertising cookies.

Who else handles your information

Only companies that help us run the site, each for its own part:

  • Hostinger hosts the website and its server.
  • Our email provider carries and stores the emails your forms create.
  • Google provides Analytics and the fonts.
  • Microsoft provides Clarity.
  • Cloudflare, Google Public DNS, IANA and domain registries answer the Domain & Email Check’s lookups, directly from your browser.
  • Facebook only if you click through to our Facebook page.
  • WhatsApp (owned by Meta) only if you choose to text us there. Those messages are covered by WhatsApp’s privacy policy.

We’ll also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety. If Silvea is ever sold or merged, this information would transfer under this policy.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell or rent personal information, we don’t share it for advertising, and we don’t add you to a mailing list because you asked for a quote. If you’re a California resident: we don’t sell or “share” personal information as California law defines those words.

How long we keep it

  • Form emails: while we’re talking with you or working together, then up to 2 years after our last contact, unless we need longer for tax or legal records.
  • Saved copies from a mail outage: until they’re delivered to us, which happens automatically once email works again, and never more than 30 days.
  • Google Analytics: 14 months.
  • Microsoft Clarity: visit replays for 30 days; heatmaps and totals for up to 13 months.
  • Rate-limit counters: under a day.

Your choices

Email support@silvea.tech to ask what we have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We’ll answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under your state’s privacy law; ask and we’ll honor them. We won’t treat you differently for asking.

Children

This site is for businesses and adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. For a significant change, we’ll say so on the homepage too.
